Quarantine Has Taught Me...

Writer's picture: Jordan Daniel ChitwoodJordan Daniel Chitwood

Let's be honest... these past few weeks have been FAR from normal. Grocery stores are preparing shopping carts for people, Texas Roadhouse is burning steaks, yesterday we had snow and today we have 57 degree weather...

That last one is pretty normal for midwesterners... but still not enjoyable.

Here are a few things quarantine has taught me... maybe you can relate?

1) Quarantine has taught me that time is irrelevant. Was I supposed to wake up at 8:00 or 10:00? I guess 11:30 it is...

2) Quarantine has taught me that it is acceptable to wear the same pair of underwear up to four days in a row. Some may disagree with this assessment, but desperate times call for desperate measures.

3) Quarantine has taught me that there are two types of people in this world: Those who have lost weight because they haven't been eating out and those who have gained weight because they haven't been moving. How are your pants fitting right now?

4) Quarantine has taught me that while my free time has increased, my efficiency has decreased. I have spent less time with God, read fewer books, and have exercised way less than before I did Covid-19. Let's be honest though... I wasn't exercising much before either.

5) Quarantine has taught me that Blizzards and Jolly Rancher Jelly Beans truly are a gift from God. This might be why realization #3 exists...

6) Quarantine has taught me a new word: Quarantangry... experiencing anger due to being quarantined. Quarantangry can come out in different ways: stress eating, talking to your imaginary friend Jeff, burning the spaghetti noodles.... many, many different ways. In order to avoid being quarantangry, try eating a blizzard.

7) Quarantine has taught me that the Church is truly unstoppable.

"And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it (Matthew 16:18, NIV)."

Life is chaotic right now... what are some things quarantine has taught you during this time?
